For all FanArtists here! Feel free to use it, if you like! Only please fave it, that's how I can guess how many people support this. Oh, wait, one more condition: you can put it, only if you really don't draw FanArt because of pageviews.
Mkay... Did you ever happen to meet people who don't respect fanart and call fanartists "fame searchers"? Did you ever happen to meet in the description to the picture such words: "I need some more pageviews, so I drew this". Maybe it was a joke, but still that's not funny to me (or I simply don't get it). I personally think that fanartists aren't worse than any other artists here, isn't it? Sure, there can be some of fanartist who really care only about popularity, but I don't think they are real fans of what they are drawing.
Anyway... I don't really care about pageviews, I just draw what I like. That can be original characters, that can be fanart. I think people who tell: "I'm not amused, he has so many pageviews. He draws a lot of fanart..." or something like that, are simply jealous. They say that drawing Fan Art is easier, than developing your own style. Maybe, maybe...But even if you draw fanart, it doesn't mean you needn't use your skills and imagination. Your art won't be noticed if it's badly drawn and doesn't have any originality. So no matter if you draw original characters or fanart, it's important how you draw. And I don't really know why some of the brilliant artist here aren't so well-known. Well, they know they are good, that's the main thing, not the number of pageviews. I do celebrate pageviews, but I don't pay so much attention to them, I won't let them decide what should I draw.
Then I'm proud to be FanArtist! Why? Fanart is necessary! When the show (or whatever it is ) is still on, fanart can give creators some ideas, when it's closed, fanart helps the show live in our memory. Isn't it great? And btw it's really interesting to know, how other people see the subject, compare with your feelings for it.
I like drawing both my original characters and fan art. I usually draw fan art when I can't really come up with anything new for my own characters, or if I just want to doodle for fun.
To me, fan art is like a way of saying, "Hey, I like this guy's work." Plus other works can be a source of inspiration too.
I only draw fanart because I like it. Of course, I like my character more but sometimes it helps an improving artist to study other styles. For example, Da Vinci's mentor told him to copy the masters to learn. Of course my gallery isn't chuck full of fanart because I don't want fanart in my college-bound portfolio, they're just for fun.
I didn't even realize people did that. I draw characters from other people's stories because I the characters. Not because I'm a fame seeker. Pfft, I really don't care if a whole bunch of people see my art. If they do, and they like it, that's great. But if they don't whatever. If I want to "get myself out there" I submit my art to groups. That's the proper way to do it, in my opinion.

I make a bullshit... 150 favs.
